To service or not to service

Featured Replies

The car is on about 8,500 and in the next three weeks I will hit the 10,000 service interval. Thing is the next of the next 1,500 miles, 1,000 are going to be along motorways across Europe

I'd get it done before, just in case you have to drive further than planned and end up going over the 10,000 miles by a significant margin.

I am the cautious type though! :)

if your going to exceed the 10K miles while away then have it serviced before you go and have the long life oil put in to make sure things are well sorted.

The car is equiped with the ability to do VS from the factory.

It is the dealer who did the PDI who would have put it on fixed when the PDI was done.

I'm in a similar position - 8500 miles on the clock, due a service at 10000 but will be deep inside the Irish Republic then :thumbup:

So going to Star Performance next week to get an early service. I'll probably ask Jim to set it to variable servicing then.

Get it done before so that the car is in tip top condition before you go. The engine may be young but the car could do with a check up before you go on a long journey miles from home. Safe than sorry and all that.

whats the difference between variable servicing and long life servicing???? i is confused! my vRS is due a service at 10,000 miles then what are my options???

Its the same thing.

Your vRS will only run fixed so its nice and simple for you.

servicings cheaper in europe by about 50%, why not get it done out there.

Its the same thing.

Lummox does he own a vRS as the signature says otherwise

Word of warning (second hand from Honest John) - if you get it done at 8500 miles and stay on fixed servicing, the next service will have to be at 18500 or sooner, as if you wait until 20000 miles, it'll have done 11500 miles between services. This is outside the 1000 mile 'grace period' they give you for service intervals, so you may well end up invalidating your warranty... :thumbdwn:
