Octavia Advice

Featured Replies

i am venturing into my first Octavia purchase and have seen an 11 plate Vrs cr 170 dsg for £12,000 automatic.

My slight concern is that it has 51k miles on the clock and has only had one service. Reading some of the other threads variable can lead to longer times between servicing but does this seem a stretch too far?

the car has quite a few featues, maxidot, parking control, leather seats, blue tooth, cruise control and seems cheap when compared to other models. it is from a very large car supermarket which may be the reason?

i do about 15,000 miles per year.

the car seems to have 'disappeared' from the website. tech problem rather than sold so can't link to details

hope you can help

the vehicle has been sold but any insight would still be appreciated

should be serviced max 20k or every two years on variable so the service history does look a bit patchy,

thanks for the reply. did seem a little strange that such a new car had such a poor history and had 2 owners

oh well back to thedrawing board and at least i know what i want

I definitely wouldn't have bought the car with that service history. You'll find plenty of people who will say that the official 20k/2year interval is too long anyway, particularly with the turbo in mind.

Its missing its vital first service. All cars in my view, when from new, should have their 7000 mile service to check if the components are doing their job. Later on for diesels in my view should be serviced at 20000 or 1 year regardless....but i know variable it a little different and i think, excluding the 1st service missed, has done what variable is described as doing, being variable...

brilliant thanks for the replies. it did raise an eyebrow when told.

guess its a good thing it sold as i might have gone for it in the end.

As a guide I bought from main dealer: Octavia mk2 FL vRS 2012 (on 12 plate) ex demo CR170 with 6k miles with full DAB system for £15k, 3 months ago :)

Oh and once a month on a Saturday, a free shampoo wash/vacuum for ownership of the motor :)

Not sure how that stacks up? But it was only £3k more than what you were looking at with fraction of the mileage and newer.

Personally if I was buying a fairly new car I would look at the used section on the skoda.co.uk website. It's no guarantee, but buying from a Skoda dealer should give you a bit more back up should there be problems. OK you might pay a bit more through the dealer, but I would prefer that to the 'car supermarkets'
