Can Stop / Start be retrofitted

Featured Replies

Hi,

I had stop / start on my last car and just wondered if it could be retro fitted to my 2011 plate 2.0tdi  skoda octavia vrs DSG as it has the options in VCDS.

why would you want to? Ive got a caddy bluemotion as my works van and its the first thing that gets turned off when i start it.

I'd expect there is a lot to it really, as you know by pressing the clutch in the ecu is told to start the engine

The cost of the uprated starter motor and flywheel would offset the fuel saved over the life of the car many times over.

Anything can be done at a cost, some things are just not financially viable though.

Many thanks for your replies. I've not had the car long and was just having a bit of look see with my vcds. Just wondered if it was a case of enabling a tick box and hey presto !!

Obviously, that's why they bought a DSG VRS...

Now you're just being silly. :)

a Battery on a bluemotion Golf is nearly £400 and you have to have a battery regulator to monitor the battery condition. as said above you wouldn't gain anything
