Columbus media query

I have no music on the HDD as it is all on SD but have decided to copy it all to HDD. The music is in a folder structure of Artist/Album and I want to copy every thing from my SD card (there are no other files) can I go to the top level and select copy everything or do I have to go through a process of creating all the folders on the HDD to copy the tracks into?

My experience is that it will copy the entire folder structure to the HDD.

If you had the following file structure: Music > Artist > Album, then you could copy the 'music' folder and it would copy all sub-folders in one operation.

As it stands, you'll need to tell it to copy each artist's folder individually. I've not found a way to just copy an entire SD card.

I've organised mine using the following structure: Artist A-G > Artist name > Album name, and then Artist H-M, etc. That way I only have 4 folders to copy across from SD card.

Scrap nearly all of the above: you can copy the entire SD card in one go, folder structure and all, by pressing the 'folder' icon to the right of the SD card label when you have the list if available media sources on screen..,

I thought I tried that and it was asking me for a folder name - I will take a look at lunchtime

Mine did, but only because my HD already has a lot of music on it.

If you had a blank HD then it should copy all as one but will probably put it all into one folder called 'SD Card'.

Try grouping artists alphabetically as I suggested and then copy each of these folders across. Makes adding additional albums later quite easy.

Hi

I did just this a couple of days ago

Following a previous post where I learnt you had to get everything in MP3 format to copy across I did this last weekend - the folder structure on the SD card was Artist at the top level, then album etc underneath

It's not obvious and you do have to press a folder icon...and it looks like it's going to copy it to a folder called "new folder"....or something like that....but it doesn't...it just copies the whole lot over exactly as you would like it, without a dodgy looking top level folder name like "new folder" or "sd card"
