Unheard make speakers are they any good?

Featured Replies

I actually got off my lazy a** and wired in my front door speakers that havnt been working since I bought the car to find the front speakers are upgraded to "mb quartz" speakers. Iv never heard if these are they any good? I have a different head unit which I know has a lot to do with it but from what I remember I'm sure they don't sound as good as my 03 plate vrs standard ones?

Also on the speaker subject as my boot space is important to me (I'm a drummer) I see you can buy a carpeted box for the mkII vrs that fits a sub into the side of the boot (snug) can this be modified to the mk1 or do they do one for a mk1,

Thanks

That's exactly what I'm talking about. Was it hard to make? What did you use? Thanks

Check the link above my photos. I used MDF because I didn't fancy learning how to use fibreglass.

I use Robs pics and with a help of a friend of mine I am now making one for my mk1....

I have a set of "MB Quart" (DSD213's) separates in the rear of my 02 Octy Vrs, locate into and onto the factory mounts. 13CM mid woofers and 19mm tweeters, backed up by a 10" sub and box in the boot with separate amp.

For me it's got just the right response (I'm 50 so not into ear popping sound levels), low bass response from the sub, good midrange from the mid woofers and the tweeters handle high's better than some very expensive speakers I've heard in the past.

yes you sure its not mb quartz?

the old stuff was german and is really good kit (have some in my mk2 golf that have been in there for about 15 years).

i had a set of the newer stuff i bought on ebay (same name but made in asia iirc) and it wasnt as good.

Oh my bad yea it's mb Quartz. Oh well if they are good ill proberly keep then they just lack bass so a sub it might have to be. Thanks guys

MB Quart went bust  - sold their brand name and designs to a US umbrella company called MaxxSonics in 2005

They are just a brand name now

basically pre 2000 = good

After, made in china - badly

spot on

nevertheless, some MB Quart kits (mostly amps) were still made with "old" parts. this made the quality of those kits comparable to the original brand -> this went on till about 2005 (or so i've heard), but only for couple of models
