New Fabia 2014

Featured Replies

All I read was "if there is strong demand in some markets" "quick to make it happen" - regards mk3 vRS.

The turnaround has already begun.

There is only Photoshops & Artistic Images are there not,? no Photographs on actual cars. MK3 Fabias.

Those images are nearly 12 months old from sites in India.

Autoexpress is quite a good issue this week IMO, several Skodas &VAG cars in it,

but funnily they keep saying different things about the chassis of future VAG cars than that coming from VAG.

Our images show how it could look.

The AutoExpress favorite line. :)

If the link works. Latest.

About time that Skoda released pictures or prices or proper information, or Autoexpress just waited until they do.

Skoda just saying what the chassis is going to actually be would be a start,

but since the Fabia mk2 is still the biggest selling Skoda in the UK

they might not want to say too much.

They will not want people to stop ordering now if they know better is coming,

Hopefully they are better and not only Better Looking and higher priced.

If they did look anything like these then fine IMO.

I've quite recently bought a 1.6TDI Monte Carlo and will be looking to change in about 2 years time, hopefully the new Fabia will have been out for a few months by then.

Anyone have any more spy pics or impressions of the mk3?

It's all photoshop at the moment.

Just think of a Fabia, with the face of a Rapid.

Thanks BossFox. I am struggling to see where a mk3 Fabia( quite possibly larger ) will fit in the lineup with the Rapid Sportback which doesn't seem to be a whole category size bigger.

They'll have to keep it about the same size, otherwise it's going to be too close in size to the Rapid Spaceback and there would be a gap from the Citigo to the Fabia/Rapid.

While at my dealers the other day and waiting for all the finance docs for the new car, I sat at gazed for several minutes around the showroom and the car park through the full length windows and decided ....

1. The new Octavia outside doesnt really have any "wow" factor. In fact looking at the rear end of the demonstrator estate parked a few inches away, I thought it could be any car really. A vauxhall, a kia.....in fact the new Astra estate made more of impression than this (and thats not easy for me to say)

2. The front corporate look is too bland and angular and its really difficult to distinguish an Octavia from a Rapid. I suspect the same front end will go on the fabia - which might be OK for fabia owners pretening they have something else. A similar story to the new polo and golf - they look too similar.

3. The Skoda rear end arse creases, after several encounter over the past weeks on road and now off, just look more and more like "I've had a slight bump up my backside", or "It looked good on my artistic sketch pad". Its just not right.

4. Last and most important I noticed the estate tailgate shutlines were terrible - it looked as if I could stick all my fingers in between the rear light cluster and the tailgate. I then turned around, looked at the boot of the Octavia hatch planted a few inches from my nose - and the shutlines on that was pretty poor too.

The curves on the present Fabia and MK2 FL Octavia - e.g. those headlights, have grown on me and I dont think the angular trend in car design is something I particularly like.

I hope the new Fabia doesnt go down the current trend (as epitomised by the RR Evoque) of low (squashed) rear roof line and stupidly high waistline - giving passenger a letter box to look out of. Not everyone is drawn by bling.....the stripes on all those new small cars are really.......well, better not say......

Wonderful,

and just what Skoda needs to hear that people are thinking.

Skoda are turning out some really cheapo looking cars, you can shape, fold and crease metal and make it look like thicker and stronger,

VW/Audi do seem to have Skoda making them look Lightweight, and add some cheap plastic and its supposed to be stylish.

Add some stick on Stripes and call it a Sport.

Some fine Engineering, should be a little more important than just turning out lightweight cars until they have to get Emissions right down for when all their models need to be Euro 6 compliant.

Lower priced Skodas are the new Seats,

Seat used to be the slightly un-cool VAG brand, Skoda totally uncool.

but now Seat gets the better and more Strength and substantial look as if  built to last.

even though the components are all much the same.

Well I have to disagree.

I was in my local dealer for a service and I was admiring the neat creases on the rear of a Rapid and facelift Superb in my sightline - simple and very neat.

The Rapid looked good in red and the window line is neat with gloss black between front and rear windows -neater than the chunky rounded window look of the older Octavia and Yeti. The lights are also well-detailed.

The Citigo Sport looks great and the new Spaceback with the StylePlus pack is surprisingly stylish!

The new Octavia actually looks quite up-market, though I do think it can look a little bland in some colours in basic trim.

All manufacturers tend to look for a common identity for their cars. I cannot say I prefer the squarer look of the 'face' of the Octavia and Rapid to my Fabia but I do think the entire range is as strong as it has ever been.

Next year's Fabia should be a similar size (so easily differentiated from Citigo and Rapid) but a little wider and lower - the present Fabia can look a little 'tall' from some angles. Sadly, despite the earlier reports, a recent interview with a top Skoda exec indicated it will not be MQB after all. Maybe it will get the new 3 cylinder turbo?

I like the current Fabia size and shape, spot on for rural driving down narrow country lanes, with a good view out to avoid the odd speeding lunatic coming the other way :swear:  So I fear any new model will put on dimensions, either in length, width or both, oh and become squashed :S

About the only thing that could be improved for me over the current model would be the steering. From my own experience with lightweight petrol engines anyway, it's prone to picking up and reacting to every single road imperfection particularly with 205 width tyres fitted, also seems prone to go out of track all to often as well.

My Mk1 Fabia vRS used to need alignment done every few months but so far the Mk2 has been good. More feel through the steering I'd like. I know there's grip there but it's like driving using the force and willing it to grip rather than knowing 100% it will stick.
