Broken Fuel Filler Cover

Featured Replies

Opened my fuel filler cover, unscrewed cap and refuelled, screwed cap on and closed cover. cover bounced back :(

Pulled the lever inside the car again and the tiny black plastic catch vanished somewhere into the innards of the car and rattled about for ages!!

Anyone else had this problem?

Thanks Dougal

Mods, if any are looking, could we have a sticky on a short guide of how to fix this please? This is the 3rd time in a week that its popped up and so I'd say it common enough to require stickyfying. Or at least put into the FAQ bit.

Help! have some issue but keep coming back to this page!!!

My filler cap would not stay closed after filling up recently, so Thank-you all for info on how to fix it. Took me about 20 minute to remove the panelling in the boot (Fabia Estate, more to peel back) and a few moments with some duck tape to secure the cable back in the socket.

Worth noting for other owners of the Estate model that it is easier to get the panel out if you drop the back seat as it gives you more space to work in.
