Real world MPGs - Superb Estate 170BHP manual

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Long time.

Looking at being a Skoda owner again (previous Fabia & Octavia Estate VRS's) but this time a manual brand new Superb Estate TDi 170 BHP.

Just wondered how many 170 estate owners frequented here and what sort of combined MPGs you're getting from your cars.

My commute is quite economy friendly almost constant quiet dual carriageway for 42 miles each way so mainly extra urban driving.  Happy to drive like Miss Daisy to get cheap running.

Anybody give me any figures - brochure ones are always complete hoop!!!

Superb isn't as economic as the Octavia,

Guess estimates would say

36-39 urban

45-55 motorway 80mph max

I get around 47 to 48mpg from my 170 4x4 so you should get a bit more from a 2wd version.  Maxidot reports typically 55/56mpg so is reading optimistic by a margin.

Thanks chaps - any other opinions?

Disappointing to hear the Maxidot's calcualations being so inaccurate....

The maxidots seem to vary quite a bit- don't know why though. Mines more accurate the Freds but still over reads by about 2-3mpg.

As a thought why don't you ask for a test drive, explain why and drive at least some of your route, resetting the maxidot before you go out ion the single trip option. That way if you take off around 5mpg say you'll get an idea what it'll be like for you.

2wd 170bhp.

Maxidot says 47.5, confirmed 46 last time I checked.

Up and down strouds hills all day long, 9 miles is the longest journey I ever do.

Thanks for all the replies.

Had a good look at a face lifted Superb at the weekend - and ordered an Octavia VRS!!!!

Didn't need the (minimal) extra space the Superb provided and much prefer the looks of the new VRS!!!

Better economy still and £30 pa rfl also one the day!!!

The Octy VRS is a great choice, but the space difference is far from minimal. Boot space may come close but this is at the expense of cabin space within the Octy. I am 6ft5 (small for my family) and can clearly notice the difference, but it is probably not such an issue for smaller families.
