Solid brake pedal, apparently faulty break servo?

Featured Replies

So my break pedal now only moves about 3 to 4 inches and it becomes rock solid...

Mechanics have put it down to a faulty brake servo, the vacuum pump has been replaced, turned out it was fine anyways and all the connecting pipes look fine, no cracks and can't feed no air leaks.

Could it be something else other than the servo? All breaks have no air in the system at all, new rear pads and disks 3 weeks ago or longer.

Just wanted to make sure there was nothing else before I face a £100+ bill next week...

Car is now off the road too.

Thanks

Were rear callipers wound back correct?

How would I find out if they were?

Handbrake works as normal.

Take it somewhere else. They don't know how to check the vacuum otherwise they wouldn't have replaced the pump. The first thing to do is to check vacuum at the servo.

Get your head down in the footwell. Can hear a vacuum leak as the servo?

Checked by pedals, lots of air leak so gotta be servo, getting properly looked at and fingers crossed fixed by time I finish work tomorrow. :)
