Insurance Companies For Stage 2 Car.

Featured Replies

Hi All

What insurance companies do people use for their stage 2 (and beyond) cars?

Currently I'm with admiral and it cost £330 with a stage 1 remap. I've just asked them and they wouldn't insure me to go to a stage 2 map i.e. 25%+ increase.

At my last renewal, I had a quote from Adrian Flux for the same stage 1 car and they quoted me £800! I'd hate to think what their quote would be for stage 2. I thought I would get a good price from them since they are supposed to specialise in modified cars.

Cheers

P.S. Sorry if it has been covered before. I did have a search.

I am with Flux, at the time I gave them an estimated power output, I have never told an insurance company it's a "stage xyz" tune.

I always say it has been remapped, or custom mapped, and just give an estimated power output.

Lets face it, if the car hasn't been on the dyno at the time, how are you supposed to know what power it really is ?

It seems that Admiral have three options in their modification list. 'Chip 0%-10%', Chip 11%-25%' and 'Chip 25%+'.

I'm currently on the 11-25 option and I believe a basic stage 2 would see a 27% increase.

They're don't seem particularly interested in the actual BHP. I'm sure they would have no trouble covering me for a Leon Cupra R.

I'll see if there are any other recommendations then spend some time ringing round and also give Flux another go.

Greenlight cover me on stage 2. They also don't charge for any mods that don't increase the cars power.

Intake modification : FMIC ?

I've put some mods on and admiral ask for the general area thats modded and then note down exactly what has been done.

Greenlight all the way for me. All mods declared and a good quote for further mods.
