armrest woes

Featured Replies

Ok seem to b stumbling from 1 car disaster to another atm. So my neice jumped in the back of the superb when the armrest was down and the cupholders were out. She then sat on the cupholders and snapped them off. They push back in to the slot but when u push them out they fall out. Has anyone ever replaced the cartridge that they live in. i would assume that a whole new leather armrest wud be 3 trillion pounds? Thanks

This has been asked before, I can't find the thread but can remember the outcome.

The cup holders and their mechanism isn't available to buy, it's a complete new armrest I'm afraid.

SWMBO decided to use the front armrest to push herself up in the seat when I had armrest in highest and furthest forward position I.e. Maximum leverage.

Result was foregone conclusion, after short crack I now have modified front armrest that is no longer height adjustable

The cup holder is listed as a separate part number:

Part number is 8P0885995 upto 12.09.2011 and with suffix B on the end thereafter.

How you would replace is another question entirely?

As you;ve got nothing to lose by trying to rip the old one out why not give it a good tug?

I reckon if you put the armrest down, then lift up the cover, you'd be able to gain access to the back of the cup holder. It's perhaps screwed in.

Will have a quick look when I go out next.

Thanks for replys. bit of an update. So having played around a bit and gone as far as unbolting the armrest it seems impossible to get access to the sliding mechanism to see whats going on. if u think of the cupholders as a cassette then the circular bar that attaches to the mechanism has snapped. As said above u can buy the cassette seperatly and ill have to hope that the new one will b held in when inserted into the mechanism.
