Fitting Prosport Coilies (vRS)

Featured Replies

I've heard a nasty rumour that fitting coilies on a vRS isn't just a case of doing a quick part change

If I was to buy a set of these in the future and wanted to lower by 30mm or 40mm am I going to need extra bits and bobs? By this, I mean drop links, wheel spacers, etc

Cheers - T

Well fitting coil overs should be a easy peasy job TBH as you really are just swapping one type of suspension with another and all parts should bolt up to the replacement suspension ok.

Certainly if you are purchasing something like KW, Weitec, Vmaxx, FK etc

But if you are going to a cheaper coilover like prosport these are made with the drop link bracket way lower on the strut than the other coilovers and your std struts, so yes you will need to replace your drop links for merc vito. Still not really a head ache as you need to undo your std ones to remove your current suspension.

Wheel spacers are not really needed if lowering by up to 30mm as the coilover platforms will be high enough to miss the wheel/tire.

I bought Vito 250mm drop links and 10mm wheel spacers to get mine fitted, Obviously new top mounts and bearings too.

Same as above. I bought Merc Vito 250mm W638 droplinks and also new top mounts and bearings. Didnt fit them myself as I didnt have the time so paid a garage to fit it all for me.

Excellent - thanks guys.

Edit: If anyone has any links to the additional / replacement parts (recommended suppliers, etc) I'd appreciate it :)

Are wheel spacers necessary ?

Ive got 5mm front spacers on mine at its current high. I could have maybe got away without any but it looked a little too close to call.

Thanks Dazz, top man B)

Car looks awesome - think that stance looks brilliant.

How much did it cost to get them fitted? Not sure I have the expertise to do it myself.

spacers arent required on standard tyre size

The garage I know charged me £100 to fit them and set them up to the height I wanted.
