aux belt tension

Featured Replies

Hay all I'm have troble with trying to get the belt tensioned up and it don't matter how much I pull the tensioner back its still to tight to go back on the belt come off off the car so I know its not the wrong size any help would be much appreciated thank tom

If it's the belt which came off the car and the tensioner is spring loaded, then there is a possibility that the belt is not routed correctly.

yeah it is routed correctly, I got a diagram of it off here to do it, is it better to put the belt on fully then tension it up with the tensioner or do the bolts up on the tensioner then try and squeeze over the pulley I have feted it both ways with no luck

Are you pulling the tensioner all the way back and putting in the locking pin?

Just realised you have a petrol engine, I'm not sure what the tensioner looks like. On the diesels there is a lug with a hole in it on the pulley which lines up with a hole in the bracket when you wind it back.
