Was just pottering along when i noticed my temp gauge on zero but car was clearly at temp. It was working 2mins prior to me spotting it flat out as i looked down when my fuel light screamed at me. I assume the gauge gets a signal from the sensor? Car runs fine too

New revised green coolant temp sensor needed. Fit a genuine VAG part only or you'll be buying twice.

CTS is dual output i.e one to the gauge & the other to the ECU.
