the code is altenator signal however sometimes it could go off for a week and then on for a month then maybe off again for about 10mins very intermittent any idea how to fix it????????

If you have checked over the "well discussed" broken/breaking wire issue and found all to be okay, it could be an alternator issue if the mileage is high - probably repairable if you have the knowledge - ie a slip ring brush or rectifier fault.
