I have a pretty large number or "contacts" in my Outlook file - which in turn syncs with my Blackberry - which in turn syncs with the built in telephone system in my car.

Therefore searching for a number in the car is not ideal.

Is there anyway i can create a secondary list of contacts in Outlook, with the view to moving little used contact details to it and reducing the number in the main list - that consequently syncs to all?

thanks in advance

I feel your pain slider, I have been trying to do this for an age now, best I came up with was to categorise contacts into Work, Family, Customers and others, this then means you can filter the groups BUT I still get 100% of contacts in the car.

To make searching easier, I now name all contacts with a pre fix.

for example, F if is family, all family members are grouped together, or Z for all my work colleagues, tedious but it does make things a little easier.

I will watch this thread as I think it will be helpful to many.

Order by surname, that should it quicker?

I have 2 phones - mine and works.  If I drive for work (during office hours), then I sync the work phone to the car, but otherwise my phone syncs.

My annoyance is seeing email/Facebook contacts as well

Already ordered by surname.  I think I manage to set up something like this years ago on an older version of Outlook but cant for the life of me remember how.

maybe if I set up a second data file and archive the infrequently used contacts into that?

Sorry to gang in on the thread, but I've lost images on received emails recently in Outlook, I just get black crosses where the image should be

I got over it once, but can't remember how  :(

Brimma - I'm sure there a switch deep in the account settings menu that sorts that.

Thanks, I'm sure it's something pretty basic

Might be a bit of a change, but with Win7 ,i now use windows live mail and there's an option in contacts to categorise contacts . Might be an option .

You don't really have an option to be honest other than delete contacts that you don't need.. which if you have them anyway its for a reason!

I've started using S-Voice on my Samsung phone to call a number in my phone book instead of going through contacts (though most frequently used numbers are set as speed dials). Maybe try the Blackberry voice control app?

Ah, but there is an option that I used a few years/phones ago, it just I can't remember what I did!

Technology changes lots, especially in a couple of years. This feature you speak off has probably been removed and replaced with a much 'better and advanced' feature. Which in the real world is terribly horrific and cause you the problems above :)

Us IT bods, don't design things to make it easy for you, we design what we want and everyone else has to put up with it ;)

Wonder if I could just create a second pst file and archive all my little used (but don't what to dispose off) contacts in there?
