My mate said I can't do that? To be fair they are slightly different sizes and of you look at the new turbo where the waste gate flap is next to the impeller it's slightly wider apart than the old turbo I don't know if this will make a difference. Unfortunately they are both in the boot of the car but will take photos tomorrow and post them up.

Not good will be a pita job just get an exhaust housing that fits

Yea that could possibly be easier but properly more expensive than an impreza down-pipe and up-pipe seeing as quite conveniently my mate has them I'm giving him £20 but yes mate I agree it's a pain! Hopefully pick bits up Friday get it welded over the weekend and have it back together by next weekend, that's the plan anyway

And the impreza down-pipe is a 3" bellmouth so not sure how similar it will be I'll have to weigh it up I know Paul is a genius he might be able to modify the 3" downpipe as mine is 2.5" but we will see

Everything is poss ;-)

Who remapping it ??

Not sure yet mate there is a bloke called Gareth in Plymouth "ghe" tuning I had a quick chat with him gone through list of mods he reckoned he could custom map it but havnt made decision yet. Thing is I'm so far away from everything. I'll see how it runs when it's back together first

Strongly suggest you take the car to a proper tuner like R-tech

You have to travel outside the south west for proper stage 3 bosch ( eg vag ) ecu tuning I'm afraid

What about badger5 I'm sure they are only an hour from me?

R-tech and badger5 are the only 2 i'd consider if I were you.

Looks like my mind has been made up badger5 it will be :-)

Badger5 are more like 2h30 - 3h from plymouth

Badger5 isn't really a software guy, iirc he uses custom-code to do most of his stuff

R-tech are only a little further in the grand scale of things, and know the bosch ecu & the new tuning software like no one else

ps

Badger5 isn't in the SW ;)

Right while your all here haha. My mate Paul said to me instead of trying to Bodge flanges he wants me to buy a 3" impreza downpipe and he will have that one and my old one as a template and adjust it to fit he also made a good point that if we fully covert it to impreza fittings then in the future any impreza turbo will fit (no hassles) which is a good point.

So...................

At the top of this downpipe I said to him about seperating the 2 pipes and having the small one as a screamer pipe. I know a lot of people don't like them that's fine but what I want to know is will it do my turbo/engine any damage?

So basically  cost of new turbo + sale of the GT2860 vs cost of custom downpipe ?

Would have have thought new downpipe sounds the cheapest/quickest/easiest route

Well that one is on eBay for £60 he gonna adjust/weld it for £20 because he is nice like that lol so £80 is a lot cheaper than trying to have a new downpipe made for mine :-)

Sorry mate just got what you meant. The gt2860 I bought is impreza fittings already I bought the wrong one hence y I'm doing all this so Iv got a brand new Garrett turbo all braided water pipes/oil feed pipes and 3" downpipe for about £700 all in.

So basically circa £800 new turbo/downpipe setup

Sounds OK

Then mapping on top of that of course

Yes then mapping on top of that so still quite cheap really. Still not ideal but I'd rather it take more time but be better in the end
