Ultrac Sessanta

Featured Replies

Am I right in thinking that general experiences with this tyre are good?

I have an annoying situation - when I bought my VRS it had 2 good sessantas on the back, one pretty worn one on the front offside, and a completely different Toyo on the front nearside.  The front offside sessanta is now barely at legal tread, and the Toyo on the front nearside has loads of life in it.

I don't notice much imbalance on the front, but to be fair have only had the car in the dry months, and haven't ever driven an Octy before.  Do I assume the advice from all you knowledgeable folk is going to be to go and get both fronts replaced tomorrow, not perpetuate the imbalance by changing one wheel again?

I've found them for £108 fitted, which seems about right?

also - are they ok for year round use for those of us who are too tight/lazy to change to winter tyres?

My winter tyres cost 60 quid a corner so (being tight) they are on already. A bit early I know, I am no purist.

Hankook Winter i cept Evo I think they are - no idea what they are like on snow/ice and not hoping to find out soon but the reviews comparing to my previous Nokian WRG2s are good.

Had them on my vx220, never had an issue with them.

I've just got a set on the front but I only fitted them tonight, so too early to tell.

I wore through a set on an 2.0 PD 140 estate in around 9k miles on the front. I wasn't impressed as the SporTrac3s on my previous Toledo and Fabia had been excellent.

I preferred the Hankook V12 Evos that replaced them; better wear and much better wet weather grip.

The design is quite old now and other companies have moved forward (F1A2, PS3, SC5, RS3)

have a full set on my vrs never had a problem with them even through last winter been on year and a half now

I'm running them and have done a few thousand miles. No problems and much more grip than Toyo T1R's I ran for a while. Still a 'budget' tyre but better than £150 on some ps3's etc

I preferred them to toyo proxies t1rs but only just. I got about the same wear out of both tyre models on a VRS mk1. I'd buy them again.

My experience (on a Fabia, on the front) is great grip, but they were nearly bald in 5000 miles!  :(   On that basis, I won't be buying again as I can get decent rubber still that lasts more than twice that, for cheaper....

Thanks all...through a series of last minute changes, I have ended up with the ultrac vorti's, seem to feel pretty good - the car is MUCH more balanced for having new boots on the front with matching wear!  They rate well, better than the sessantas in fact although based on less reviews, on the VRS tyre rating guide

The guys at the tyre place were trying to convince me that for the UK the wintrac winter tyres are better and can be run all year round, but every example they cited was a 4x4 type vehicle, so I stuck with the standard tyres...

Went for Barum Bravuris II's on the cheap with a bogof deal from National and I've found them to be pretty good. Saved me a wedge over the PS3's I used to fit and don't notice a huge difference. I don't speed around like a right **** though, so that might help! :giggle:
