Twinkle, twinkle

Now that it's getting dark on the way home from work I've noticed the two little LED's that illuminate the centre console, although because of the silvery colour, we thought it was reflected moonlight at first !. A nice touch, but I know where the gearstick is, and in really dark conditions I want as little light inside the vehicle as possible - it does nothing for your night vision.

Is there a simple way to turn them off ?

Bluetack ;)

You'll probably find more light coming from the bolero et al. Or at least more light directed at you. I've been meaning to try activating the screen saver option and see what difference it makes.

Can they be turned down with the dashboard lighting?

I usually find that a small square of insulation tape does the trick when it comes to irritating LED lights & loads of extra strong & long duct tape when SWMBO opens her trap.

The red LED's are so you can read or find stuff without needing to put on a light and ruin your night vision.

Yep, I've got a couple of orange LEDs in the Bravo and they work very nicely for a quick glance down to locate something without needing to turn the bright white lights on and affect your night vision.

Give them a chance.

They are white on modern Skoda's.

I'm assuming the OP meant the 2 LED's in the roof panel.

It's called ambient lighting and is on most VAG models now.

Is this just on the vrs, or is it on other uk models

On my Elegance Oct III

It's also on my parents Yeti

On my SE as well - must say I like them too.

Quite like them myself

Hadn't noticed myself but will look now

You do get used to them - and actually miss them when you have a car that doesn't have them.  Scirocco - red "submarine lighting".  Fabia - nowt.

On my SE estate; I've previously had them on a couple of BMW 320d cars.

These are actually a feature of my VRS I was looking forward to. Has anyone got a pic showing this effect on the Mk3 Oct?

Was standard on my Superb annoyed me at first but wouldn't be without it now

Me too.

I'm assuming the red/orange LED's are on VW and Audi.
