Interchangeable Hubs

Featured Replies

Hi guys

I am having trouble sourcing a wheel hub, both pieces including the part that bolts to the shocker and the wheel bearing housing.

Does anyone know if these are interchangeable with any other car? If so I will probably have more luck sourcing one!

Cheers guys!

Seat Ibiza FR/Cupra I think only, possibly a higher trim level Polo 9N with the same 288mm front brakes.   Just be wary of buying one from a lower trim car which has the smaller 256mm brakes (recognisable as there's no unbolting possible of the brake carrier as its integral part of the hub, unlike Fabia vRS/Ibiza FR or Cupra, etc)

The Leon hub did not fit. The mechanic tried to 'make it fit' as a temporary fix, but it's impossible to get a socket on the end of the driveshaft nut due to the design of the Leon wheel bearing (it's tapered where the CV sticks out). He also tried to fit the original Skoda VRS wheel bearing to the Leon hub however the bearing is too small to fit.

I will try the Ibiza FR one next, fingers crossed!

No the Leon hub won't fit its a different platform.

I didn't read the first reply to this thread properly which was really silly of me.

As soon as I saw Cupra I quickly assumed Leon! Doh!

Right, I went to collect a Ibiza FR hub today and it's completely wrong.

I can't find anyone else breaking a FR or even a Polo GTI, I never knew this would be such a bloody nightmare.

Looks like I will have to visit the dealers (I'll be sure to take the lube with me), unless anyone else can advise?

If you have a fabia VRS (as your username suggests) then an ibiza FR hub WILL fit and IS the same.

If its not then u either dont have a Fabia VRS... or... whoever sold u the ibiza FR hub has sent u a non FR hub.

There is only 1 hub design for the fabia/ ibiza/ polo (of the same age) that has a seperate caliper carrier. All the other carriera for the ibiza/ polo/ fabia are integrated into the hub

fab 2 tdi and yeti ones are the same as mk1 vrs too, they have 288 disks etc

That^^ I know as it's giving me a ball-ache after being offered a brake upgrade for my non vRS 1.9 PD100.

I had been looking for a drivers side hub for a few weeks. I was quoted £100 for 1 hub by 2 people who we're breaking Ibiza FR's on Ebay, which is ridiculous. In the end I got a pair for £50 from SRS Automotive. Maybe give them a try, they might have more in stock.

I do have a VRS indeed, the guy at the breakers promised it was off a Ibiza FR but it looked identical so the Leon FR one I bought my mistake so he was talking ****.

SRS Automotive have been an absolute waste of time for me.

I asked for a hub on a Wednesday, he/they replied on a Thursday asking me to pay via PayPal and said they'll dispatch it on Monday as they didn't have the time to remove it before Monday. I was in desperate need so I offered them extra money if they could have it off by the weekend, the answer was no. So I told them I would collect it on Monday and the person who I spoke to said that was fine.

I contacted them on Monday morning, they said the hub will off at lunch time and to come up on that afternoon. At around 3pm someone confirmed that I can collect, but it was too close to rush hour so I said I'd pick it up on Tuesday morning first thing. I booked the morning off work and was ready to set off at around 8:30 but just at that time someone text me to say the hubs are "damaged" and have "stress cracks" on them. Complete time wasters, I personally think they sold them to someone else for more cash.

I then bought one off a forum member on here (Tues 29th Oct) but it looks like that may have got lost in the post as the tracking number doesn't actually track the parcel after the point that it had been collected.

Great luck I'm having here!
