Wireless sucks

Featured Replies

I just didn't realise how badly until today.

Picked up a powerline networking kit in Lidl today (went in for cat food, came out with networking gear, typical Lidl trip).

200Mb, one connector with a pass through power plug. Nothing special but suits me. Only for internet so don't need 600Mb.

With Wifi been getting about 2Mb speeds and problems with connection when a few devices are on.

Cheepo powerline, 12Mb solid as a rock and that with the wee man streaming video at the same time.

Three cheers for copper

Bt Home Hub 3 and a Dell Latitude E5530 with 802.11n, and I get about 65mb downloading.

Nothing at all wrong with my WiFi.

Wireless sucks...

5ghz less sucky

5ghz AC less sucky still.

No replacement for Cat6 ;)

Good old cabling around the house......can't beat it....

Are we talking WIFI connection speed as mine is 130Mbps to the gateway?

Sounds like your router sucks more that the WiFi standard itself. If you buy your tech gear in Lidl that might be why!

Toshiba ultrabook connected to a Virgin Superhub. 144mb connection.

Either you have thick walls or your router is rubbish!

I've got the latest Sky hub, not yet on public release (so no suggestion of aldi being to blame) and powerline kits give real speed advantage over wifi. Speedtest using wi fi 28mb down 5 up, using powerline adapter 38 meg down 10 up.

We have lead pipes in the building. Screws your wireless signal no end.....oh and health as well.....
