Turbo Intake Pipe fitting issue

Featured Replies

So fitted my new turbo intake pipe and eventually got it sitting right with all the auxiliary pipes connected except one. Does anyone have an idea where this pipe goes in my pic? Theres only one possible space for it on the new TIP and its the one thats blanked off with an allen key type screw. Theres no way it will fit! The car runs ok with it like this but im guessing this is the same as a massive boost leak if this pipe is not connected? Anyone know what this pipes function is and is it necessary to have it connected to the TIP? I was thinking of just blanking it off at the end maybe?

Hi Buddy

The TIP where the Allen bolt is should have a pipe coming out of it so the pipe you have in your hand will connect to it.

My guess is the allen bolt has been used to blank if off as the previous owner may of deleted/removed the EVAP breather system

See this example of what that TIP should look like.

Some TIP's especially cheap ones may not have a tube installed but just the plain silicon and you have to get a connecting tube

something like this

Bowders1 thats great information thanks. That pretty much explains in all i need an adapter since the guy i bought it off had the EVAP breather removed. I presume if you remove the evap breather it wont pass emissions for nct/mot etc? How difficult is it to remove is it worth it? What if i simply blank the end of the evap tube off with a screw?

Glad it made sense buddy. The car will pass mot without EVAP breather system. It is not needed to pass emissions and is only needed in none European cars like USA which have tighter emission.

I have deleted SAI, N249, N112, Evap and simplied the breather system and removed all hardlines and fitted a oil catch can. Pretty much all you can do and it still passes MOT.

I have DIY guides on all of this in the octavia technical guides section.

I would however at least block your pipe off or re connect else you will have a open system. Then decide to either remove some stuff or keep the pipe to TIP. For now probably easier and quicker to connect it up then decide on what you want to remove. My guides are simple if you want to go that route.

Cheers.

Yes it goes on to where bolt is

The problem is it will run fine but fuel vapour is coming out of other pipe so leaving it down back by hot turbo is a no no

Just disconnect that pipe from evap and run a single pipe from evap to throttle body job done ;-)

Cheers for that Mark i will probably just connect it up for now. I had a look at your tech right ups on it but couldn't find anything on the evap removal. My SAI is ok for now so will probably wait until i start getting hassle before i will remove it.

Probably best idea for now to just connect it up . I will dig out guide later and post it. I think I headed it breather simplification or similar.
