Wiper trouble

Featured Replies

My wipers will work sometimes, they dont work on postion 1 and 2 sometimes on 3 and 4. Now I have replaced the relay with 3 different relays, so not that, and because it works in 3 and 4 I dont think its the motor any other suggestions.

Search on here. There are guides on spraying electrical contact cleaner onto the contacts of the wiper arm. Dirty contacts is the common cause of your problem.

Its the linkage seizing up. Both my octavias have done this. You can strip it down and rebuild it and grease it up, theres a guide on here somewhere but i cant find it from my phone

Yes, he is right. My daughter has just reported that her wipers worked intermittently and would stop mid screen, but switching to high speed (position 4) returned the wipers to rest. The garage (Renault) took the mechanism bars off, cleaned and re-greased the joints and it now works. Coincidence!

My previous post about cleaning the switch contacts is still true for some apparent failures.
