Cover for driving other cars

Featured Replies

Any one here in the motor trade

I'm struggling to found a company that will cover me to drive other vehicles it's not for buisseness

Use

Who are people using for there insurance?

Bored of searching ned being put on hold

of the companies I'm aware of, this is based on age and comes into play at 25... it will just show as a clause on your insurance certificate stating you can 'drive other cars not owned by yourself and not loaned to you' or similar...

Lots of Insurance Companies have dropped that clause from their policies.

We offer it on standard motor policies but not if you're in the trade in terms of being a mechanic or car dealer. Unfortunately it has been abused in the past.

I thought it was standard for fully comp policies to include a 'you can drive any vehicle (covered by your license) 3rd party with the owners permission' bit. If that's not common across the board, then it's just a direct line thing.

It used to be a standard feature of fully comp policies but a lot of companies have started removing it.

It's on mine. (Santander)

Am in trade and can drive my car and thats it, its been like that for years

My dad recently tried adding me as a second driver on his van and it more than doubled it even though i have a clean licence and 8years ncb,

I did look into a traders policy as i do do abit outside of work but it just wasn't worth it for use i would get out of it and i struggled to cover my modified vrs on it as a private car

I've not had to reject a policy due to it being missing yet, but I wouldn't have one without it. It's just too handy.
