Headlight adjustment for Europe

Featured Replies

Hi all

Does anyone know how to adjust the headlights for driving in Europe?  The manual only says they must be "adjusted at a specialist garage".  So at least it looks like they can be adjusted which is good news. I just hate the stick on things which are a pain to remove afterwards.

ps Mine has normal halogen reflector lights.

Cheers

There's a shutter you move to mask off part of the beam to make it flat (No left/right bias) for driving on the right in the Octy II - I've done it and it's very straightforward. The Xenon versions could be set to this mode by the driver if they had the maxidot display or using VAGCom if not. All the Octy II headlamps were projector style rather than reflector though, so this option may be gone :(. If you can get the search to work there are instructions on the Octy II forum.

From the Octy III manual....

The low beam of your headlights is set asymmetrically. It illuminates the side of the road on which the vehicle is being driven to a greater extent.

When driving in countries in which the traffic drives on the other side of the road than in your home country, the asymmetrical low beam may dazzle oncoming drivers. In order to avoid this, the headlights must be adjusted at a specialist garage.

You can adjust the Xenon headlights yourself by setting the "tourist light" mode in Infotainment Operating instructions for Infotainment, chapter Vehicle settings (button CAR).
