Recirculation packed up

Featured Replies

Not my recuirculation thankfully :).  My Fabia's air recirculation stopped working when reversing some time ago and now does not work at all.  The aircon and fans all work fine.  Vagcom gives me a hvac control module error.  Does anyone know what part I need to change to get this working again? It draws fumes into the cabin when reversing without the automatic recirculation.  Not good :(.

Mine failed ages ago apparently due to the flap motor. Think it's a dash-out job to replace so I've just lived with it.

Flap motor. Dash doesn't need to come out, just the glovebox.

Does the dash come out for the other one then? The temp control flap?

Starting to not trust my garage haha.

I'm glad that Tech1e has confirmed that, my wife's Polo 9N has some "very busy motor" noises, though I need to check back on some of it's VCDS logs to see what has been reported! I had that recirculating flap issue with a B5 Passat, despite reading that that job was definitely a "dash out" job, bought the new motor secondhand from ebay, started investigating the possibilities of changing it with the dash in place, and came away considering the only other option was to take the wing off and cut an access hole - now that was not going to happen! In that car access space where the motor is is about 1.5 inches, motor assembly needs to get withdrawn probably about 2.5 inches - not possible! Changing the temperature flap motor though was quite easy - if you had patience and small hands - maybe the same with Fabia/Polo/Ibiza?

No, centre console and surround comes out and you can change it.
