Window Regulator Multi plug Help...

Featured Replies

Well i opened the car today and put the keys in the ignition and went to put my window down and nothing happened, noticed only my door opened and the lock unlock button wouldn't work nor would the passengers wing mirror although the drivers one never did nor did they heat up, so took the door card off and had a little inspection, when i was moving the multiplug off of the window reg the doors unlocked, so i cleaned the terminals and noticed a few connectors starting to like rust, so sprayed electrical contact cleaner on the terminals, worked fine, but when fiddling about i discovered 2 wires have snapped from there female connector, and was wondering what the 2 wires are for ? they are in the middle row from the bottom 2 slots, the 2 most dirty slots in the multi plug micture, where would i get these female (spades) from and what tool would i need for ejecting them out of the plug ?

You didn't give the year, but ...

One of the wires is one of the two main power feeds to the door control module and the other is a ground. You can get repair wires from the dealer. They are 1m long and have 'female (spades)' at each end. The yellow grommet indicates a wire size of 2.5mm. The red grommet indicates a wire size of 1.5mm.

Ah, sorry, it's a 2001 tdi, so this would explain why vagcom doesn't detect the door control module, and the puddle light doesn't work ect...

From memory, the large wire is terminal 30 (always on), so anything that needs to operate with the ignition off, won't work.

Does the smaller wire have a yellow stripe? If so, then it goes to the light.

Yup, thought you'd be able to see that in the picture but i guess it wasn't that clear, i hope once i repair this i'am able to get the functionality back in my drivers wing mirror ect....

Sometime parts or TPS deny the existance of repair wires. If they do, get them to to do a part number lookup on 000979* and it will give them a list.

I'll be going into vw as it's my friend there who runs the parts department, so i might even get the stuff i need for free :D, these little female connectors are hard to find, even halfords didn't have them or i would have repaired it by now, thanks rbaldwin, is there any where i can get a wiring diagram from ? would like to trace all this, as in the near future i'll have a go at wiring up my rear window wiper motor

There are a gazillion different variants for the convenience system. Armed with your pictures, I'll see if I can find the right one. PM me an email address and I'll send you what you need.
