Driver side rear door not locking or opening with remote

Featured Replies

Hey folks

only noticed this today

I can't lock  or open drivers side rear door with remote.

Windows still work . The front drivers door led has stopped flashing too.

Any ideas folks. Probably a 12v feed issue through the pillar??

You know the weird thing, i've been reading through a few threads now and they all point to the pins in the multiplug that connect onto the back of the drivers door window regulator, it's a hotspot for the pins corroding, try looking there my friend as i discovered today when my central locking wouldn't work along with other stuff that runs from it

Yeah cheers buddy. It was surprising how just in recent weeks I have seen quite a few threads on it, some with drivers door issues. As mine was rear door was thinking maybe not that multiplug but further towards the rear like B pillar.

I also had passenger lower A pillar side plastic panel removed when I was installing some wires to a rear sub/amp and may of disturbed something. Not sure what is down on lower left side.

Will get a better look when I get time.

Cheers

I just repaired this fault on mine...£20 off eBay new part absolutely brilliant as skoda wanted 160 just replaced the entire door latch assembly

Any updates ? i managed to fix mines with a little help from rbaldwin, great guy, maybe pop a message off to him as he sure helped me out a great deal.

Check the wires between the door and the car mine was corroded

+1 for rwbaldwin, goldmine of useful info. He helped me define that my rear was borked, there's a topic in 'ask a tech' :)

FAO Bowders;

I think I've even got a spare lock if you want it, mate? I bought the wrong one initally but you're welcome to it.

wow buddy, nice one yep will take it off you as a precaution..... can PM you later.

Yep bowders exactly that fault... Was showing off to my daughter pretending the car was actually 007's James bonds rent-a-car(she's seven) and said it had special doors that lock when the car sensed trouble so locked the doirs of the interior switch ....clunk....to which she replied "wow daddy it locks every one but mine cooooooool" :( .... On arriving home I went to lock the doors via the fob and the doors locked apart from the drivers rear (faulty one) and the led wasn't flashing on the drivers door .... Found out they are all linked in a way and if one goes down the led wont flash..... So bought the lock assy of the bay and happy flashy locky days:)

nice one buddy

will hopefully fix my issue then...

I just taken rear panel off and the black cloth insulation around the wires is falling off. maybe water in there? I checked connectors and all clean and none corroded.

Reckon that latch will sort you buddy....:)

Poo,  i don't think it will now.

I hung in 2  spare locking mechanisms I borrowed today to see if original one was fubured and those did not make a change.

I tested voltage from B Pillar to the rear door control unit loom and got the 12v. I then tested voltage from the plugged loom on door control module to the yellow wire and all  other wires  in plug removed from door mechanism and could not get voltage?.

hmm possible door control module???

Possible how's voltage to front drivers side as I believed they may be linked in series bud bud could be very wrong?

Not checked that as not removed the panel yet. Was thinking that if front is working must be something wrong with the back.#

When the dam rain stops i might check the front also.

I am also wandering if i disturbed something on the near side as had lower A pillar off and the B Pillar plastic off to route wires to rear sub last week. Could just be coincidence though.

Well update on this folks

All fixed.

After hanging in a few replacement door locks and still not working i was suspicious of either wiring or door control module.

I managed to get a full rear door replacement then also managed to remove enough of the "B" pillar loom to plug into replacement door whilst holding it near as possible. The spare door worked with remote "yeah" .

This proved that problem was within my door somewhere

I then removed the wiring loom from donor door and hung that in place connecting it my "B" pillar , door module and lock.

"B" Pillar plug.

Other side of "B" pillar main door loom plug to push back through door

Door loom to remove from donor door

hung in loom to test

And hey presto remote worked .

So Wiring loom was at fault.

now have a full working remote central locking again.

Nice one! Glad you're all sorted, mate :)
