Felicia on ethanol

Featured Replies

Can I mix in a little ethanol in the tank of my 136M MPI 1.3 felicia?
Would I need to reprogram the ECU to get this to work?

Is there any advantages and/or disadvantages?

A very interesting subject.

Why would you like to use ethanol? What are your current expectations from that?

It happens I know a lot about fuel alternatives and present practical solutions on increasing mileage, decreasing costs, efficient energy generation, etc. and I can discern easily between any snake oil and the real thing. I have been researching in those fields for over 5 years.

The reason ethanol is on the radar, is because it is readily available at the gas station.
And it is taxed less harshly than gasoline, thereby the kWh per buck I get, is higher.

I don't really endorse the ethanol business, since most of it seems to be "burn down rainforest and plant sugarcane".
But since my govt has decided it's a good idea, I just have to adapt to that reality.

Our governments would do anything to keep us far from really non polluting, efficient engines that run very cheap using alternative types of energy. If we don't do anything and stay like lemmings, they will milk our last penny from us. You have no idea what kind of suppression there is from oil industry vested interests. But imho there is also nothing a shovel over the legislators/government skulls couldn't cure.

As for the ethanol project: a maximum of 10-15% ethanol/gasoline ratio should be fine. More would mean a new engine.
