Speakers upgrade

Featured Replies

Hii. :)

I know there was a lot of talking about upgrading speakers from OEMs to some better ones (i know they sound great, we have 8 of them and radio SWING ) . But i have a question, i know a few of you upgraded the speakers and the radio etc. but are those really better (i was looking around 200-350€ for upgrades only for speakers, maybe also the radio unit if any sugestions)  or they arent? Or i will say it otherwise, are they worth it or not? First i am looking to connect it to the OEM radio, maybe on next level I would change the unit.

I am looking for some good good quality , and maybe a little bit more of bass ( maybe i will buy also a subwoofer (RCA converter)), i love to have a speakers which sounds great also at little more higher sound level.

Thanks for advice, and i know there was a lot of talking on this topic, but not a single topic which i read it, didnt answered my question.

Hi Nejc,

Last week I had my front door speakers uprated, and a subwoofer and amp fitted along with some door soundproofing. Total cost was around £600 (including professional fitting) and is hugely better than stock. I have kept the Swing radio, so it all looks stock and the sound is truly superb. Front speakers only uprated, don't spend any money on the rears, there is no point.

I wouldn't spend any money on changing the head unit, just spend the money on good quality front speakers/amp/sub. If you are confident to install yourself you will save a lot of money. I used Hertz speakers and sub and a Focal amp - really love the new sound!

Zouche, what outputs are on the rear of the swing?

Cheers

Paul.

On the rear are all the usual MDI, power and speaker cables. There are no amplifier pre-outs. My amp takes a high-level input straight from the head unit and sounds great. No interference, no hum, no problem! Nice and easy.

Hi there. i finally managed to confirm my speaker upgrades as follows:

Front Speakers: Focal 165 v15

Sub: CS 110-Wx

Amp: JBL GT0-3EZ

All sounds good, however I have sensitive hearing and the "static"/whitenoise is killing me, when there is no music being played.....seems like the I am using the High level output to the amp, because my Swing HU does not have RCAs.

Is there anything I can do ?

Congrats on getting the upgrade, looks to be an interesting set up. I would suggest the first thing to look at about the 'noise' issue is the gain settings on the amp. This answer on Yahoo explains it well:

Did you install yourself or did you get it installed? If it was installed, maybe ask the installer to check the levels and converter position (high -> RCA)

I gather with that amp, it comes with high level to RCA converters? The position of these can make a difference to the noise as it can pick up interference if placed near to power wiring etc.

Hope that helps!
