Also here, from Wk 45.

Maybe it's going be a euro thing, as they already seem to know when it's being built!

Its a real shame they're already talking about special editions (if this is the case) the number of special editions on the mkII was embarrasing..... normal vRS seemed to be the less common ones!

All will be forgiven... of it has awd!

To make it heavy and slower?

And if it has a tad mor bhp. Say about 270.

To make it heavy and slower?

No, to allow it to grip better and actually provide decent ability off the line, no matter what the weather is doing. And haldex 5 is down to less weight than an average adult weighs now so weight difference is pretty negligable. It'd also allow me to use it far more confidentally in Southern Germany during winter each year and make the most of any performance enhancements

:)

I'm guessing a link to Skoda and Kopecky's success at the IRC - you would think a white and green theme for that. And 600 horses!

That's interesting. The second link shows the 'new' vRS mode button.....

To make it heavy and slower?

Just setting off in my heavy & slow S4, god I wish it was FWD.

Picking up a new RS4 for a 24hr test drive. I hope that hasn't got AWD either.

Your S4 would be heavier and slower than a similar A4 if it didn't have the extra horses, which is I think the point being made.

Thats exactly the point i was making, thank you.

Im certainly not convinced it would be slower in the damp and rain our roads usually see but I think this is going somewhat off topic so I'll stop there. :)

Obviously the gubbings adds weight, but I would like to see all of the 411 horses being put down on a damp twisty road in a FWD car!

Yep, me too. Another AWD v 2WD debate :)

I think it's likely to be a trim and colour combination but if anyone sees or hears anything different I would be interested - about to place an order...

Don't worry, you'll have plenty time to change it!  :notme:

Google translate comes back with

Package "RS CHALLENGE"

RS Challenge packet contains:

- Black alloy wheels GEMINI 7.5 J x 18 "

- Small leather package (3-spoke multifunction leather steering wheel with controls for radio and telephone) for manual gearbox

- Making calls for manual gearbox

- Color MAXI DOT with "Lap Timer"

- 'PERFORMANCE MODE SELECTION "

- Black Design package (box masks and mirrors in gloss black)

- Scuff plates "Challenge"

Price seems to translate to £450ish.

Looks like a couple of fairly normal UK options stuck together (afaik Geminis aren't standard everywhere).

Lap timer is a new one on me though - anyone know any more about it as I can't see it in the manual.

Black Gemini's would be nice though :)

Shame - a little remap would go a long way. I've seen a pic of the maxidot lap timer somewhere - I thought it was standard!

From skoda media.

The new ŠKODA Octavia proves that sporty can also be eco-friendly. Four versions of the model are now available as of this year – from the Octavia to the racy Octavia RS. The special edition ŠKODA Octavia RS Challenge, offering both sporty features and class, will be available from November. Fantastic exterior features underline this sporty look: The ‘black package’ available for the Octavia RS includes the black finish to the side mirrors and grille; the Combi’s roof rack is also in black. This sporty look is emphasised through the black 18-inch ‘Gemini’ alloy wheels. The Performance Mode Selection is series standard on-board the Octavia RS Challenge, through which the driver can adjust certain handling characteristics of the vehicle with the touch of a button. Comfort is maximized by the multifunction steering wheel with audio and phone control buttons. There is also a leather package for the steering wheel, gear stick and handbrake - the leather is embroidered with red stitching. The colourful Maxi-DOT Display now features a digital lap timer. A special feature is the Challenge-badge in the door sill.

Black pack, black gemini's, colour maxi dot with lap timer and some stickers..... lol! Bet they'll all be pre built too so no chance to put any useful options on.... Yet another pointless special edition vRS.
