Kiss goodbye to the output of most of the North Sea because a joint venture 51 percent owned by the Chinese say so? And 30 percent of our petrol & diesel? I can't see the government letting that happen can you?

That being on the premise that the government actually has any real power. They have power over the minions but when it come to the real power, well that's reserved the big, big corporations the hidden hands. The puppeteers who make them dance to their tune not ours. This whole thing with China is another smoke screen to keep us looking the other way

Interesting on the 'Fracking' and the plant opening in Norway.

https://www5.wsws.org/development/en/articles/2013/10/21/gran-o21.html

Then there is the Company with the First Fracking Licence all ready to go, & that may Produce Commercially the first Gas from Fracking  in the UK, right there in the area.

Funnily the UK mainstream Media &  local politicians & even the Scottish and UK Governments do not appear to put

2 and 2 together and get 4.

They like to just keep it simple, because either they are simple, or they think we are.

So the workers at Grangemouth are up in arms because,  ".....We are looking at a pension scheme that will be changed to a money purchase scheme, a pay freeze until 2016, redundancy terms to be scrapped to the statutory minimum and overtime being reduced. Taking into account of all the changes, workers could see £10,000 shaved off their salary every year."

So what, tough! These are the sort of terms and conditions that many people have to put up these days.  If they don't like it go and work somewhere else.

Spot on, we have dealings with their workers through my work(and in my college class) and they are sooo far up themselves (not all but a fair majority) its unbelivble.

They seem to be paid loads more than other workers who do the same if not more work for other companies, they dont have to pay towards their pension and its of the final salary type (no wonder it costs the company so much), and they get very heavily subsiticed meal. So its about time they came down to the same level as the rest of us...albeit i dont agree with the huge wage drop some of them are facing

" 'Unite' says, that about 2 thirds of their members have rejected the offer."

EDIT, 18.30pm

Unite are saying 65% of their members have rejected the offer.

That is around half of all the staff at Grangemouth.

So not all employees are Unite members, & possibly not all that are will be telling them anyway,

so we will need to wait and hear how many Employees have actually agreed to sign and accept the new terms.

It is a big place,

but the gents with transit vans that live in tin tents could have it dismantled in pretty short time and move on with it as a permanent site.

Its not a Fracking licence George

“fracking”: fracking does not form part of this planning application, there is no plan to frack the coals at Airth.

Thats good to hear. thanks for correcting my error.

the licences held were for no place near there. my bad.

It is only Coal-bed methane drilling that is planned for the Falkirk/Airth area.

They may still be the first to produce commercially from Fracking in the UK,

and they may do it there, just not from this application then, maybe a future application.

Not good news for Employees. the Local Community,  Scotland or the UK.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-24631342

Still Breaking News,

but the Grangemouth 'Petrochemical Plant' is to close.

Closed already and staying closed.

The 'Grangemouth Refinery' is to stay open.

But the Grangemouth Refinery is still closed pending agreement on the Employees accepting the new Pay Terms & Conditions.

You can hear what he is saying.

It seems to be more than any other Party Leaders are, the Labour Leader in Scotland is deafeningly silent.

She is a member of Unite, and if Alex Salmond is papping it, then i think she will be as well.

All sides & all Political Parties will need to work together to get this situation sorted out,

there are peoples employment & incomes at stake because the Unite Union thought they could bully businessmen.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-24631342

The Labour in Scotlands leader is Johann Lamont MSP,

it might pass many by, who would possibly be in the First Minister of Scotland if the SNP were not the Government.

All parties should be worried. The last time grangemouth was closed 70 platforms were forced to shut down, that's 700,000 barrels a day. And the cost to the other refineries to correct the loss of Grangemouth is estimated (by the fuel industry) at £800 million. They will want government help with that.

So government will be faced with serious loss of revenue plus the prospect of scarce fuel in Scotland, Northern Ireland and Northern England. It would have been Cheaper to give ineos the £300 million that wanted.
