Driving Light Control

Featured Replies

Does any one else wonder why the controls for the lights on the Superb are completely hidden by the steering wheel?

It is not a major problem (possibly a consequence of original left hand drive design configuration) but surely it wouldn't have been too much of an issue to place the controls to the right of their current location

Fumy you mention this as I was lucky enough to pick up my brand new Superb Elegance this morning and on the drive home also noticed the exact same thing. Personally I'm not bothered by it as having auto lights I won't use the switch except to use the fog lights.

Maybe that's why there is a lamp in the instrument cluster showing when the lights are on, as on my Passat CC and the wife's Golf the switch is further to the right so there is a lamp in the switch itself to show when the auto lights are on - not always easy to know during the transition from late daylight to early evening  twilight.

Does make you wonder why the switch isn't a bit further to the right though.

The switch is pretty intuitive to use without looking at it...

Off, auto, sides, dipped. Pull once; front fogs, pull twice; front and rear fogs.

There are lights in-between the speedo and rev counter to signal when dipped, main and front/rear fogs are switched on.

Who needs to see it!

My only problem with the light switch is that in order for the xenons to be able to do their magic swivel lighting, they need to be in AUTO.  But then when the lights are in auto, you can't then put the front or rear fog lights on; instead you have to switch over to manual dipped beam and then you lose the ability for the xenons to swivel.  Correct me if I'm wrong anybody please.
