Door handle removal

Featured Replies

Afternoon all

In pic 2 the end cap just pulls out.  Does it f##k on mine.  Being a right swine.  Any tips?  I've tried gently prizing with a flat driver but the colour cover came off.  Help

Thanks.

Remove the plug from the right hand hole in Rob's picture. Insert an allen key (not sure of size) then, while pulling gently on the handle end cap, slowly undo the allen screw until the end cap becomes loose and then is released. DO NOT UNDO THE ALLEN SCREW FULLY.

as above but IIRC it's a Torx T25 not an Allen key.

It's a t20 make sure when unscrewing it you hold the external handle out or it becomes a total pain

Thanks chaps.  That's done it.  I mullered the colour end cap in the process.  Wasn't that clear in Haynes.

Another lesson learnt.

Forgot to ask.  What size retaining bolts hold the lock mech in place on the edge of the door?  I have nothing that fits neither did halfords.

Think it's a size 8 spline if I remember

Excellent.  Much appreciated.  After learning so much about these cars it would seem foolish to not buy another in the future.  Unless the cash for a Porsche suddenly appears.

Thanks again.
