MkIII vRS door locking issue

Featured Replies

An intersting and somewhat embarrassing fault.

The driver's door sometimes refuses to open from inside AND out.

The car has done it a few times now and the only option has been to get out of the passenger side.

Tried cycling the ignition, cycling the central locking (both internally and via the fob)but to no avail. Then the fault will disappear as quickly as it appears. I think the deadlocking is engaging when it shouldn't be doing so, maybe a new door controller perhaps?

Obviously this is a major safety issue in the event of an emergency and it is going in tomorrow to be looked at - along with the sticky N/S headlight washer.

I'd love to hear from anyone who has experienced the same issue and what the outcome was.

Depsite the issues, the car is fantastic. We will have had it a month tomorrow - i've managed to prise the keys off SWMBO a full three times so far

I haven't been around for ages so I apologise to anyone that messaged me in my absence

Only had mine a couple of days but not had this issue. Def an important issue that needs resolving asap tho! Love that your missus has barely let you in it tho hahaha

I would be interested in why this happens. Being disabled with MS, there is no way that my Missus would be able to climb over to the passenger side

I'll keep this thread updated. We've got a 4 year old boy and a 9 week old baby, luckily they are both in the back so the passenger seat was clear.

Had similar on an old Fabia I a few years ago but a rear door. Think the convenience module (?) and then the door lock were replaced to resolve the issue.

Hope it gets sorted out quickly, although to my mind in the event of an accident aren't the doors supposed to unlock automatically? Even if they do I suppose there's no way to know if the fault will prevent that.

Funnily enough I've had a similar issue on my vRS although mines seems to unlatch properly but then needs a real good push to get it open like it's sticking to the seal..... Happened a couple of times but only when opening from the inside though...

What we've found is a complete lack of resistance on both the inside and outside door handles. As if the deadlocking is engaged. Quite disconcerting. It might even be a mechanical issue with the deadlock mechanism not engaging/disengaging completely.

Hopefully all will be revealed tomorrow.

does it have auto locking?,i always get that disabled when i get a new skoda new or used,

It does yes but it shouldn't deadlock the door

I have had the same drama last night at the channel tunnel. couldn't open door from inside but I had disabled the autolock. when I reset it back the problem went away....not sure if it was supposed to be like that! !

Update

The car went in on Monday and the problem appears to be sorted - so far.

It was something to do with a bad connection on the door controller - the info is third hand so I can't be any more accurate than that i'm afraid.

We had to re teach the auto open and close on the driver's door window so something has definitely been fiddled with.

I will let you all know if it does it again - it looks good so far.
