VW Caddy

Trying to find out what's available for them. I know the biggest engine is the 2.0 TDI 140 unless it's a Maxi which gets the 170 so that's mappable but what about suspension? RARB's bushes etc to improve the handling? It's supposed to be Golf/Touran based so I'm guessing there's something out there.

This isn't for me but a friend of mine who wants a second van to do gardening in. One he can use for the smaller jobs but will still have to carry weight at times so can't compromise that. I'm guessing lowering will affect this?

Had a maxi caddy the other week at work while the transporter was in for warranty work. one thing i did notice was it had leaf springs on the rear.

Really? The maxi one might if it's that much longer. Eibach tweeted me earlier saying lowering kits were available

air ride Caddy 4Motion :bandit: Golf MkV platform so should be lots available :)

I've recently built a 54 caddy. It originally had an sdi but ended up with a mk4 gt tdi pd engine runnin 180bhp and a 6 speed box. It was dropped on 18's with mk5 golf front coil overs and darkside developments rear lowering kit. It was a good runner and definitely turned heads

Caught a bit of motor racing on channel 4 on Sunday morning, it was the VW Racing Cup and someone runs a caddy in the series.

They do a factory sport/R-line which looks quite nice.  Loads of detailing places round these parts have Caddy's or Transit Connects slammed down with nice fat alloys.

So there must be plenty options to spice one up.  2.0 with no seats to lug round should be very nippy.

This is what he's thinking.  It will be used as more a daily driver too so still has to be fairly entertaining.

Even plumbers and electricians have some nice Transits or Transporters - seeing more and more combi vans with body kits and nice and clean.

I do like the Transit Custom sport edition with the full kit on.  Saw a white one with anthracite alloys and blue stripes about a month ago at Telford Services.

Even if you buy the std caddy, you should be able to get the R-line seat's no problem as the seat's that go in this van and the transporter are put in when they get to the uk.

Had a quick look on Darkside's website and there are kits available. lower springs/coilovers for the front, it is leafspring on the rear but there are adjustment kits and uprated springs and all fairly reasonable too. Being it's a 2.0TDI (quite rare it seems too. Most are 1.9/1.6tdi's) any reputable tuner can map it?

Just has a look under the swb version at the computer shop next door, it has leafs too. hope this helps.

I think quite a few vans are still running leaf springs. He's always had transits but fancied a change to a Caddy. Transporters are too much money for what he wants it for.
