Help needed - valuation

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,

Due to work giving me even more kit to lug around I'm looking at possibly upgrading to a mk2 Octy. (bigger boot and a few comforts go a long way at 35k miles a year!). But I'm at a loss as to what my current fabia is worth, prices seem to be between £600 and £2000 for similar cars, so thought id best ask the people in the know ;)

Its a 02 Fabia comfort estate 1.9tdi. Ocean green (looks more like something ikea made :notme: ). It has had Air con fitted as an option and ive added a genuine skoda cd player too. Its done 170k but has a full service history and 2 owners (including myself) from new and all bills/recipts including original bill of sale! The paintwork is quite tatty and the interior could do with a clean up, though im hoping to do that myself soon.

Good news is its never broken down in the 70,000 odd that ive driven it, just general wear and tear items. Though you cant really expect that to affect the price as the buyer would not have experienced this from the car.
It has the usual Fabia niggles - leaky rear doors in heavy rain, air recirculation flap a bit hit and miss. and the drivers side window controls are a bit iffy, though ill be swapping that soon as i can't stand it!

Just wondered what you all reckon I would be getting for this? And if im better off going P/x than a straight forward sale? I'll attach some photos to help give you an idea of the condition.

Thanks in advance for the help, its the answer to this question that will be the decider on if I can afford to change cars or not!

Rob

It's definitely more at the £600 end. High miles, decidedly unfashionable colour and tattiness all count against it sadly.

But anything with an MOT has got to be worth £500 these days. How much tax is left?

Dealers probably won't want it, but try the PX route anyway - it might make a difference, but probably not.

Bottom line is it's your old junk and you don't want it, so why would anyone else? Sorry to be brutal, but that's about how it is.

But thats not how it is, I'm changing due to circumstances. A car with a full service history and plenty of life left in it isnt "junk". But thank you for your offensive post nonetheless.

I cant disagree with you more on your last statement... He has described it as perfectly working so why is it junk?

I have to agree with wja96 price-wise as I can't see it going for much more that £800 but you may be lucky as it does look well looked after.

Good luck with the sale!

Surely more towards the 1000 mark due to the fact it's a practical, cheap runabout with a decent mpg

Talking of mpg, with a boot load of kit (as always). Ive never got below 55mpg to a tank. usualy low-mid 60's. Managed 68avg once or twice (calculated, not by the obc)

I have 2 , 03 elegance estates here that I bought, for me and the missus, 1 with 175K on it I paid £550 for and one wit 186K which I paid £600 for but both with no mot or tax, but ebay it is the best option if you can put up with chancers trying to get it for £350 lol

Well, £500-800 was the general idea of value.

Managed to get £1,000 part exchange value for it :whew::rofl: . So I'm a happy chappy!
