Stop-start system

Featured Replies

Drove a Citigo today. Very grown-up car, stable and solid. I only had one concern. When the car restarted it seemed to take a few seconds to build revs. At roundabouts and junctions I found myself reluctant to pull away until certain that the revs were stable.

Was it a manual?

I have driven a few stop/start manuals and never had any issues, as soon as you dip the clutch to select the gear its up and running. At junctions/roundabouts you are never really stationary long enough to bother selecting neutral and letting the clutch out, so it does not stop.

Not sure how it works on ASG or DSG transmissions, I would assume you have to press the brake and select neural? Not sure I would be doing that at give ways.

Must say I've never had any problems/reservations about stop-start.

have a citigo elegance greentech 75 and fabia GLII both with stop start and never seen the issue you describe

lights turn amber, clutch down into gear and pull off as lights turn green

rarely at a junction long enough to want to use stop start

pretty much as soon as the engine start i'm off

Stop/Start.  The wife has this system fitted, I start the wife says Stop.

I will correct the statement above for you as it wasn't complete

"The wife has this system fitted, I start to get the plastic out for some new toys for the car and the wife says Stop she needs some new shoes."

I have driven diesel Kias with Stop-Start with no problem. This was a manual petrol 3 cylinder. I have 30+yrs driving experience and found it disconcerting to the extent where I didn' t let the engine cut out. It was like when a cold engine choke has been switched off and it won't rev. Nit ideal at roundabouts. I have no axe to grind I thought it was a great solid car with the ride of a larger car.

Can someone tell me which Citigo's are supposed to have stop/start?

Looking at the SUK website I got the impression they all had it although as usual nothing is very clear! My mother has just taken delivery of an Elegance 75 with ASG gearbox. I'd assumed that it would have stop/start but it doesn't seem to have it - certainly no button to switch stop/start on and off...

Only the Greentechs have Start/Stop.

Only the Greentechs have Start/Stop.

Thank you. I kind of assumed they would all have it but obviously not. Can't say it's going to make much difference to my mother - in fact one less thing to confuse her really!

The "Go" part on the rear badge is green colour for Greentech. Mine is also zero tax because of the stop start, I believe without it's £20 per year.
