Driving on the right..

Recommended Posts

Just a quick one. On my Omega I just flick a lever behind the lens of each headlamp to convert beam pattern to one which won't dazzle foreign drivers.

How do recent Skodas / (more importantly) how does the new Octavia deal with this? I really don't want more stick on beam-benders for a 2013 vehicle!

As above, you can switch to 'Tourist Mode' in the Maxidot computer.

Only for Xenons I believe. Use this feature several times a year. It's brilliant.

Flattens the beam so there's no longer a kick-up on the left side of the beam.

If the normal headlights are projector style and like the Fabia ones (on my vRS - and I think the Octy II) there is a little lever on the side of the unit internally (pop the rubber cover off) - up for dipping one way, down for the other.

My Octavia vRS MkII FL has the lever on the inside of the headlight unit but it flattens the dipped beam (blanks off the usual left side 'kick-up')  not changes to LHD pattern.  Very useful on a recent visit to eastern France.

I'm afraid that the standard headlights are no longer projector style, just bare bulbs with a basic chrome reflector, so I suspect that this work-around is no longer an option  :(
