PlastiDip Alloy Wheels?

Featured Replies

Just wondering if anyone has sprayed there alloy wheels with PlastiDip, I'm just looking for a cheaper and quicker method but not sure what the negatives are, will the paint just peel off?

Thanks,

I've used plastidip a fair few times on my own and other peoples cars.
Got to say i wouldnt use it on wheels. they'll peek and chip far to easly and every day use. It's only been done by plastidip to show how strong it is.

At least one member on here has done it, can't remember who. They looked good though. And Tbh it's still on my list to do when I get the dosh and time, as at least you can just peel it off if you want to sell/change. Obviously not going to be as good and durable as a proper job, but I'd have no issues doing my wheels in it.

Hello mate, I'm just up the road from you lol.

I havent seen your black fabia though I'm 20 mins away.

I plastidipped mine last year and they are okay but look rough after a while as they have rubber finished and tend to retain dirt. I mean they are okay TBH but never be as good a properly painted wheel.

Cheers

Plastidip is quite dear, for what it would cost to get 4+ cans a can of primer, 2 cans of paint and a can of lacquer from Halfords would probably be cheaper and last longer

I've done mine white they look ok from a distance and will do me till I can get a proper refurb after Xmas

Nah 3 cans of just plastidip is sufficient, I had mine done for a year with no issues, however they need properly washed, decreased etc before doing it.

I diy'd my wheels with upol paint in black the full works, primer, lacquer etc for around £30 more, took ages and needed various tools and sand paper etc.

Love white wheels on a red car!

Might have to get some for mine when funds allow

That's the reason I wanted a red vrs I wanted white wheels on one.

Plasti dip is alright like I done my hole car. I did't use the cans I bought the tins and mixed with thinners. I have done wheels for friends and they were alright but like every one ells says paint has a better finish Posted Image

My polo gti was red

How much did it cost to do your car? Also possibly a stupid question but how did you apply it if you bought tins?

I bought the gun dipmyride recommend which you get from Argos for £70.00. Got the tins from plastidip.co.uk for around £300.00 with the correct thinners. Put around 8 coats on and let it dry for around 24 hours.

BE CAREFUL

If your car has any sing of lacquer damage don't plasti dip. I only dipped my car to get rid of the pinky colour.

This is what happened to mine when I took it off a few months later Posted Image
