Newbie, and already asking questions...

Featured Replies

Hi there, i've just bought a very faded but very straight, red 1995 1.3 glxie flairline favorit, 45000 miles some history, two owners, i'm chuffed with it.  However, it coughs and splutters a bit as the revs increase, but pulls well from about 3,000 revs.  I'm hoping a good service will sort it out, but could it be vacuum advance? acceleration is hesitant.  Still it only cost me £300 and with a couple months tax and a full MOT, i'm not complaining.  Also i'm told mk1 focus coilies fit the front (with a little jiggery-poking) but are hatch and estate rear suspension setups the same? i.e will mk4 polo coilovers fit the back of my estate? I'll service and polish it this weekend and get some pictures....

Thanks in advance, Tom

that sounds like a phrase which has originated from me, i've used the mortal words jiggery pokery in relation to ford suspension on these.. funny how word spreads.. yes it is possible but it involves some.. ahem.. jiggery pokery

anyway, is that fuel injected being a glxie model? in which case there is no vac advance it's all electronic under control of the ecu, but i would check the valve clearances and fit some new spark plugs before doing much else

Totally agree with TeflonTom, I would check in the end the ignition coil/transformer too.

And then post some pictures!
