Fabia vrs mk 1

Featured Replies

Hey guys and girls. I'm posting for the first time on here. Wanted to say I have been reading on here and you guys seam to have one of the best car forums.

I'm wanting some advice if possible. I really really want to buy a fabia vrs mk 1. But I'm just a little confused on some things. Firstly what is the difference in car and mpg between the 1.4 and 1.9.

I been searching for a 1.4 but there don't seam to be any for sale and on gum tree etc there are only 1.9. Initially I didn't even consider the 1.9 thinking maybe its too much for what I need etc. But then some people say the mpg is actually better on the 1.9. So I am truly confused

Also sorry if this has been noted before. I have been reading but haven't come across a noob guide as of yet. I have only been looking into this for a week. Really want to take the plunge and buy one but don't want to make any mistakes.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you want a mk1 Fabia vRS, it only had a 1.9TD engine. The mk2 Fabia vRS has the 1.4 petrol engine.

Lol feel like an idiot. I didn't know that. The mk2 is out of my budget ideally wanted to spend between 3 - 4 k.

So I have to buy a 1.9 vrs. Thankyou for your help

You should pick up a sub 80k motor on an 05 for around 4k

When looking at the vrs should I purchase on which has its turbo and other work done or should I just make sure I get one with low miles. Around 75k for £3500. Is that cheap?

Seems like a good price. I think autotrader is a good site to compare prices to miles etc.

Wouldnt worry too much about the turbo

Some go and some dont so its a lottery! A new turbo could pop in 5k miles you just dont know!

Exactly, mine popped in two days of ownership aha

£3,500 could buy you an 06 plate with Xenons and Heated Seats :)

*gulp* I was hoping to steel a march on my wallet and buying a car that wouldn't give me any problems for a while. Lol

thats not  just a risk with a fabia though, that goes for any car.  If something is going to break randomly on a car (any car new/old) it will?

obviously take time in picking a car thats been maintained and has proof, but even at that you can find a fault today, tomorrow, or in 2 years time

To be fair, you are spending £4k on a used car.

Any car in that price range is going to have had a fair bit (60k+ miles probably) of use and be over 6 years old.

Just find one in good condition that's had all the services and cam belt changes as required.

If it's been looked after it's likely to be as reliable as you will find.

But no 6+ year old car is going to be bulletproof.

If you read the Fabia Vrs forum for longer than 30 mins you won't buy one.

/\ its the same with any forum!

Ppl come originally for help with issues! Then everything gets blown out of proportion!

If you read every forum before buying a car you'll end up with a pushbike!

I just bought a bmw 320d! Then joined a bmw forum! And low and behold i apparantly have a weak turbo!

What a load of banana skins!! My turbo is as strong as an Ox

I have to agree any forum would reflect that. But I think its good that members are honest and its with any car really there is always something going to go wrong. But at least on here there's honest advise.

Im still hopefully going to buy one. Just need to find the right one.
