Not Skoda, but me being a plonker

Featured Replies

did a sprint like thing with the Rover guys a couple of weeks ago.

These are 3 runs that you may notice have odd run numbers (even ones are on warm tyres so not so funny). Id gone for a pretty aggresive tyre setup to ensure a quick lap + victory. In reality what it meant that on every out lap I span at walking pace  :giggle:

Its acceptable to loose it once to learn youve done something wrong. But every single time? Thats just learning disabled.

Enjoy me being a plonker....

There only short being sub second laps.

Looks tight around there!  Greasy too but it does look like you had a fun day out.

Looked like fun.

What tyres you running..

I think he was on R888's according to his youtube description

Rover 200 with about 270-280bhp on R888/V70
outlap overlay is skewed due to engine cut, hot lap is ok.
Surface is pretty greasy but drying

love how that sounds

yeh it was fun, track is very, very awkard being so small.

tyre wise it was 2/3 worn R888 mediums on the front and pretty bald V70 softs on the rear.

Even tho I had some issues getting them warm and the track was slippy up until the last few runs, they worked well tbh.

We are thinking of going again next year but with proper timing if anyone is interested. Its good as several of us had offs and you just slide through some mud.

Where abouts is this small circuit?  Also what is the criteria for a timed event, will we need an competition licence?

Roll cage or anything else?

I am sure I will go, just let me know when it is, also if it is open to any car I have quite a few people who might join in with there rally cars.

cool, Ive never come across any specific criteria for a properly timed event. As there is only 1 car on track at a time you dont need anything MSA, just your lid.

This one wasnt properly timed (infact it was a farce) and it was literally no rules.

Its in staffordshire :)

Ill let you know if we do as its unlikely we will get enough Rovers!

OK, it does look to be a twee circuit at a massive 1557 yards long, but it is all good fun and off the public highway.

Looking on Curborough's website, it does state rules for MSA licence for timed events, so could well be worth checking before we shell out any money.

I spoke to a few of the rally lads today and they seem to be less interested than I thought, purely because it is a bit small for what they are used to. Never know though.

I have a Rover and a competition licence :D

Hi mate!

Interesting, yes that would need to be checked. Ive done timed events before and not needed an msa license and there are events where you can roll up in your road car sans msa.

Yes it is a very tight track!

And some pics of said stupidity..
