Resonance at 1500 RPM

Featured Replies

As title really.. When at 1500rpm I get a a very noticeable vibrating noise which seems to be coming from somewhere either inside the dash behind the glovebox or in the engine bay (passenger side). for some reason it seems louder when coming back down through the gears.

The car is very quiet throughout the rest of the rev range and I wondered if Is this a common niggle and whether anyone else has experienced this?

I have the exact same problem with my Octavia. Although mine is at axactly 1,100 rpm.

It's also the air intake.

Try wedging the air intake with something then rev the engine.

If it's gone then you've found your problem.

Check my post here, was exactely at 1500 rpm. Look at the picture, get your car to 1500rpm and hold it, and have someone tap on the plastic part...

Ah, OK. Sounds quite likely that this could be the cause... Out of curiosity, did this come on gradually or was it  something you'd noticed from day one?

I bought mine second hand, I never heared it, my mechanic noticed it right away. The first owner said he never heared it. I guess it happened graduately.

Mine was second hand also. Noticed it straight away due to it occurring at 1100rpm so it was heard a lot in crawling traffic.
