Nearly time to renew extended warranty

Featured Replies

Had a quote from one of my local dealers for a 1 year warranty with breakdown. Its coming in at £548. This is a carplan/skoda policy, anyone else renewed and paying less??

Thanks.

Ring Skoda UK, they some times come out cheaper and Includes breakdown cover

Seems steep to me, mine was less for 2 years extended warranty unlimited miles inc RAC when I ordered car. I know it's more after but JEBUS!

I tried ringing skoda last year but they told me they dont sell warranties!

Yes they do.  ( not saying your telling porkies )

Skoda UK push people to Car Plan for warranties once the manufacturer one expires. If anybody has ever managed to get the manufacturer warranty extended I'd love to know!

.

Who do you contact? Skoda UK at Milton Keynes - and, if so, who - or Skoda Customer Services?

When I had my PD 170, I extended the warranty through Customer Services

One year + breakdown cover

Got a price from supplying dealer :     1 year + RAC £449  2 yr + RAC £649   has to be renewed before Factory warranty expires end of December. Nothing on Skoda UK website, as usual. Waiting to find out what is excluded, as have DSG box and do not want nasty surprises.

Also got quote from Warranty Direct : Luxury Care package to include front / rear parking sensors / Main Dealer repair 1 yr £370    2 yr £705 (payable over 4 months 0 % interest). Reading through cover now, appears to be very comprehensive. Anyone else got experience of them?

They look good up front but will do all they can to wriggle out of paying in the event you make a claim. Apparently.

I contacted Skoda Customer Services and the Warranty was " Car Plan ", bought through Skoda and not the Dealers cos it was cheaper and you get full RAC Cover

It's just insurance by another name.

My car is 6+yr old. If I had a warranty I'd have been able to claim for about £500 of the work I've had done in those years.

I'd have spent a lot to have the warranty.

Unless you have doubts about your car my personal suggestions would be to bank the warranty money and use if if you need it. If you don't need it you get it back with interest.

I'm going down the lines of DSG Box and 2.0L Engine failure (Tensioner). Plus it's only done 16K miles

I'm hoping to keep the car another 3 years but it's 3 next June (2014) and theres nothing out there for the money to beat it.

I don't like the Mk3 Vrs so I can't see the point of changing at the moment.  Has to be Skoda though and quite quick.  My Mk2 suits my needs

The Skoda Extended Warranty is a no-brainer for me too as a 1.8TSI owner.

Warranty is a gamble, just like as mentioned above it's an extra insurance policy against the cost of unexpected repairs.

Those that like to know that they are protected and are prepared to pay for peace of mind, together with not having the hassle of shopping around for parts and labour quotes for repairs, minimising the time the car is off the road and ensuring the car is repaired by Skoda themselves etc.

I prefer to put what I'd otherwise have spent on an aftermarket warranty into a savings account and spend it if needed or save it if not.

The issue can be that as modern cars get more complex the typical costs or repairs also increases.

Over a lifetime of car ownership, the odds are quite favourable that you will be better off without the extended warranty.

Personally I have gone down the route of removing all extra insurances from my outgoings (other than the main car & home policies), and even these are stripped back. Insurance companies have been very clever recently at persuading people that they need these extras.

The savings I have made over the last few years have already surpassed any claims I could have made for mobile phones, lost keys, boiler repairs, drainage & plumbing etc, etc.......

I just spoke with Neil at Skoda CS, they only offer the warranty that's purchased when the car is new. He told me where to go on the website, they don't do the car plan warranty!  If anyone else still things I can purchase a 1 year warranty from Skoda, please give me their name and number so I can't get anywhere with them!

@ m0bov, I'm trying to PM you regarding warranties but I it says you can't receive any more PM's

have you reached your limit?

Couldn't agree more! That's how I do it too.
