DTUK box or RE-MAP?

Featured Replies

Got a 2006 1.9tdi lauren & klement octavia....Im very tempted to get a vrs but if i do decide to stick with what ive got for the time being i would like to give it a bit more up and go!! Been offered a re map as a group of people for £150.From a reputable person im led to believe. Can take it from 105bhp to 150bhp.... On the other hand,i can get a DTUK box for about £320 roughly... obviously more money but does anyone have any advice for me please.... which would be best & is it worth paying more for a DTUK box??? Thanks to all

If your ecu does not have the protection i would go with a proper remap, i went with a dtuk box because my ecu is protected and i am happy with it.

150 is a bit optimistic from a 1.9 105 TDi PD. 135-140 will probably be your lot, think its pretty limited by the turbo and intercooler set up on that variant.

Id probably suggest remap as warranty not a concern and the ECU wont have to be cut open.

i thought 140 was a more realistic result

i dont think any pre facelift cars have encrypted ECU's. Later facelift CR TDI's both 1.6 & 2.0 have encrypted ECU's so have to be opened up in order to bypass the encryption chipset. Petrol variants were not encrypted I dont think.

Your car will not have a protected ECU. Our remap is £249 inc VAT just to throw another option to you

the PD2 system is currently discounted to £315.95

factor in that they usually sell for £150 - £200.00 used, then youre looking at a whole of life cost of between £165 and £115.00 :)
