Order update - exciting times!

Featured Replies

Ordered October 5th, dealer tells me it's being built next week and delivery in early December!

VRs hatch

Black Magic

Geminis in silver

Colour Maxidot

Spare wheel

Winter Pack

Nine - ten weeks from order to delivery.......should I be breaking out the champagne?

Yes! Given I ordered on the 2nd and haven't got a build date!

My dealer said that he only gets the info on a Tuesday and updates everyone then.

So, yes, champagne time now! Must be dealer quotas or something at play here.. what's the opposite of Champagne? I need some of that now...

Don't want to hex anything by celebrating prematurely!

I can just envisage getting a call saying the order's been delayed and I'll have gotten myself all fired up for no reason.

Think I'll put the champagne on ice until I get a call telling me the vehicle is on UK soil!

Definitely champagne :)

Hatches are OK

I order on the 8th of October and I still don't have a date. Called the dealer today and they said huge delays on estate versions... :/

I ordered on the 2nd September and still no date....

Ordered 27th August and still no date/idea (vRS TDi Hatch) - I would say you are being fibbed to but to be honest the way things are going you probably will get your car then, Skoda seem to be running some kind of raffle to work out who get's their cars - It's just a shame nobody's given me my tickets.....

I can't wait to fill in a customer satisfaction survey, so far it's pretty much a big fat 0 on anything to do with communication and honesty.....

Oh and BTW vRS hatches are being reported with 6 to 8 week delays on top of the usual order time (correct as of last week) - information directly from Skoda UK customer service line - this is due to lane assist parts issues

Welcome to the party.....

I would like to add the word *allegedly* to anything regarding delays in my post above, I don't think they are capable of telling the truth though I've no idea why they can't just be upfront and honest with people....

Allegedly....  I've been speaking to dealers and when I've dared asked about order delays they've rubbished this.  Obviously, I know better having read on here but it's a risky game to play.  If I wasn't expecting delays, I'd be on the phone daily to SUK/dealer.

This is what my dealer said to me initially as well, much the same I was aware of initial issues having started reading up - I started by saying I was concerned about delays and he said it was a standard 12 week order.

There's so much smoke and so many mirrors that I've no idea what or who to believe any more - the one thing I do know is that either Skoda are very clever at controlling this or they simply have no idea what's going on. As a customer I'm not recommending them to anyone at the moment - all I'm holding on to is that I hope that based on all the research I've done this car will turn out to be good value for money and a decent car to drive, it was the best deal and I suppose I'm now paying for that with this whole farce...

I ordered on 4th August, (no known problematic options selected) eventually got a build week of 42, which was then moved to week 49 (no reason given), and haven't heard anything from the dealer for a month! Going to chase today for an update. JuanCarr - consider yourself extremely lucky if your order comes through so quickly, you must be chuffed.

It's all down to pot luck. Skoda have a big container full of numbered balls. Once a month they draw them out at random, and the lucky numbers are given build dates. The rest stay in the container until the next draw. Apparently some dealers also get bigger and brighter balls than others so are more likely to be chosen.

On a serious note OP probably just got lucky with colour, engine and body type. Magic Black is not the most common colour so perhaps the wait is shorter than for White or Race Blue etc. He has also avoided adding any hard to get options.

Gives me hope that my date will be confirmed soon......

I spoke with SUK this morning who confirmed that my build is going into production this week. Ordered 17th August.

VRS TDI manual hatch

Race Blue

Black Pack

Sunset Glass

Cruise

Mitsumi

Spare Wheel

I agree that hard to find options would cause problems, but sat nav and cruise control (both of which should probably be standard!) are hardly tough options and in honesty are probably potential dealer fit options!

Well you'd think so, wouldn't you?

But having read the many stories on here about orders moving around and disappearing completely before reappearing with a revised build date, I'm cautious about jumping into a rendition of "knees up Mother Brown".

Ironically, having just spent the best part of a grand on my existing car (service, MOT, aircon regass and new discs all round) I wasn't actually that bothered about when the car arrived; I'd have been happy with a 14 plate in March!

I spoke to Skoda UK  last week and told then that even if its bad news, surely it would be better to keep people up to date with the delivery issues everyone is talking about.

Communication is a joke, its about time they just came out and told everyone what the issues are and how they are going to manage the situation. I have my SIR number now and can only be told that my car is at status0. Which basically means the order is in the factory, but no known build date or even any idea of one!!!

As nice as John (from Skoda UK) was its terrible customer service to keep so many people in the dark. Lets be honest, if they came out and said all cars would take 5 or 6 months from order to arrival and aimed to beat those time, we would all be happier than we are now!

In fairness, I went for a Vauxhall Astra 3 door biturbo in January.

Paid a grand deposit and sat back.

In April, a rather embarrassed dealer called me to say the 3 door had been pulled by Vauxhall and was no longer available - how would I like my deposit returned?

A chat with him revealed the dealers couldn't elicit any sort of response from Vauxhall about the whole matter - they were as much in the dark as the punters.

So lack of communication isn't restricted to Skoda.

Plus, I imagine any franchised dealer who kicked off too much at a manufacturer would find their franchise terminated?

Spoke to my dealer today there no build dates until shortly after production starts.....

The only vRS Hatch's that are out on the road are a few pre production run of cars prior to main production starting...

I'd have a word with SUK rather than your dealer Baz. There are plenty of customer ordered hatches on here now, my own is also being built this week.

You must be one of the lucky ones that Skoda are building before  main production starts..

I call SUK mine was at states 0 ..!! No date

I think my 63 plate will be a 14 plate now

  • 1 month later...

Just had an updated build week from 10 to week 5 for mine. So fingers crossed!!
