Which do you think look better?

The Chrome or Carbon fibre?

The Chrome are £55 a pair and the carbon are only £23 a pair

Or pay through the nose at £70-80 for the genuine ones?

Cheers

Damo

The metal ones look like they'd damage the paintwork. The carbon effect ones are very much the same sort of thing as the OEM ones.

I like the look of the stainless ones, though I share greenstripe's reservations. I wouldn't pay £80 for the OEM ones, on eBay they're £40:

Honestly though, the double-step sill puts me off having them altogether, like they're a bit of an afterthought. I'd buy some dedicated "sport" ones though...

Charlie, are you sure that listing is for both sides?

I think you might find that it is one side only, hence the £80  (although I have been known to be wrong)

The ebay listing shows a front and rear sill plate and describes it as a set for a 5 door. I would expect a set of 4 for front and rear.

The picture of the carbon Citigo sill plate isn't even fitted to a Citigo door sill, it's a different profile, check the different (correct) profile of the chrome style one.

Thought about these myself but because of the double door sill I can't make my mind up whether they would look ok.

I would expect that as well, but Im pretty sure it is a set for 1 side of the vehicle only. I will message the seller to confirm

Yes I know, but it gives an idea of what to expect

It is for an UP! so should be ok

Yes, I know what you mean, you can get the official double black ones with the stripe as a set

Ah, the chrome one, I wondered why it said exclusive on it.

That eBay listing is for the printed plastic foil guards and is the regular price for these, Saunders Abbot (the seller) are an official Skoda dealership. The more expensive ones are hard plastic with stainless steel inserts.

TBH, if I had a 3 door (like Damo) I'd be a lot more inclined to get a set, but I think they look silly on the 5 door, with the rears especially looking like an afterthought.

I have just bought a set of Carbon Sill protectors from ebay, When I find the link Ill post it here.

Havent received them yet but once I do Ill post a picture

Looking forward to seeing these. Would be nice to see a farther back context picture, rather than the close-ups you get on eBay.

Well they have come and they aren't as expected.

There are just 4 pieces of carbon vinyl. There sized roughly for the bottom sill which is a shame as I wanted them to cover upper and lower.

When I get them out again I'll take a pic, was in a rush before.

Oh dear :(

Was rather disappointment to see the size of box. When I opened it I was even more disappointed.

Might make another use of the carbon if I don't like them.

I've just ordered OEM ones for my Sport. 2 black plastic ones with Silver Citigo emblem on. I presume they just stick on ?

Sent from my iPhone 5 using Tapatalk.

Yh. Mine says heat up between 18-30 degress to get them to stick

They all just stick on: The foil type are printed self adhesive vinyl and the 'stainless steel' are abs plastic (with steel insert) and have adhesive tape on the back.

When applying preparation is the key: clean, dry and thoroughly degrease the area prior to application (the Skoda ones come with an alcohol wipe for this)

A promised I have Pictures:

This came through the post

Was quite shocked to see it wasn't Sill length.

Not what I was expecting at all, but can't complain as I got them cheaper due to a discount voucher from ebay. Instrctions dont say which sill they fit, so might cut the outline out and test it..

I have already thought of several uses for the carbon if I dont like them.

Why are they 2 parts?

I think the OEM ones I'm getting are in 2 pieces.

I am thinking 4 door sills as mines a 5dr but possible upper and lower for fronts.

I might make just front ones from these as I rarely have rear passengers and its the drivers sill thats getting the abuse all the time... Fingers crossed being fited Saturday

  • 2 weeks later...

Fitted mine today. They're just flimsy long stickers. Black and Silver with Citigo written on. I thought they were plastic or rubber. Never mind they still look good :)

Sorry no pics.

These are supposed to be sold by www.rearguards.co.uk but can't find them on their website, might have to give them a call.
