The fastest taxi in the east

Featured Replies

I saw an Octavia vRS taxi today - I wondered to myself if this was a waste of a good car, given lots of stop-start journeys. I don't know if anyone in the UK has seen such a thing. Just putting my thoughts down on paper. I couldn't tell if it was a petrol or diesel but it had two tailpipes and was a facelift post 2009 model.

There are plenty of taxis that are VRS.

We even have a vRS taxi out in the middle of Dartmoor.

Thanks for putting me right on that one. It was just a first for me, that's all.

I got a surprise when I saw one too.

I see plenty of interesting taxi's in bristol. 335D's, VRS's, E class merc's, even an S4

I guess from a drivers perspective if they spend all day behind the wheel then I too would want something a little special.

I remember there was a full CM Subaru Impreza as a taxi a few years ago. Cost loads more than a normal cab....

There is a MK1 vrs(petrol of course) taxi near me, seen it a few times, respect.

True silver but the mpg will be eating into their profits. From a money point of view its just silly

A lot of the taxis in Portsmouth were Octavias when I lived there, including a number of diesel vRSs

If you ever get out to Germany, in the big cities most of the standard taxis, especially ones that do the airport runs are big plush top end E-Class Mercs and 5 Series Bmw's.

Certainly beats the vomit stained VW Sharan's you get near me.

There's an Audi S8 (D2) with an LPG conversion as a taxi in York.

Also seen a couple of Octavia vRS taxis before.

Another unusual car to use as a taxi I have seen are Fabias in Trier. Loads of them.

M8 I ve got an 11plate vrs taxi done 70 000 mls had it 2 years never missed a beat only prob I find is its quite a harsh ride

Special? If you wanted something special then you'd not be buying a Skoda would you?!

(I own one, they simply aren't special if you're being honest)

Seen a pre FL Octy 2 VRS in race blue as a taxi in Belfast a year or 2 ago. All seem to be sporting 1.6 TDI Superbs now though.

i was up north a couple fo weeks back and saw an EVO as a taxi, how expensive must his fairs have been

Special within the realms of Skoda's range.

A CR170 Octavia vRS is special compared with the usual taxi choice; the Octavia S 1.9 PD105.

Talking of this i saw in bristol a blackline vrs with black wheels as a taxi yesterday

vRS CR170 diesel is plenty economical for a taxi.

If I was a taxi driver and had an Octavia think I would choose the vRS variant every time, your not a taxi 24/7 are you :)

My vRS before my last vRS is now a taxi (CR), I see it most weeks round where I live. It's still remapped too.

My vRS wasn't that much more on fuel than my 1.6 Superb
