Getting lazy - I want the mongrel back!

Featured Replies

As much as I love the CLK I am running around in at the moment, it is making me a lazy driver.  There is nil driver involvement (it feels like) in most parts of its driving.  Auto box, Auto lights, Auto wipers - Just two pedals, stop and go.  It just wafts along, takes everything in its stride, is comfy as hell.

Jesus it would be a great car if it did 50mpg......

Give me my Skoda back!  :D

Here's the beast!

Absolutely.  Car is lush.  It's just its affect on me I am noticing.

Plus, even though its got a 2.6 litre engine its SLOW..... [comparatively]

Does it have auto indicators too?

Seeing as it is an 02 plate, has it started rusting yet?

No - actually the indicators is one of its downfalls as the "stickiness" has gone in a lot of the turn, so you need to hold the stick....  Good job its an auto!

No rust that I have seen whilst polishing it.  (yet....)

The indicator stalk has obviously been worn out by the previous owner who didn't realise the stalk is purely for ornamental purposes on a merc. :giggle:

I bet it's quite the giant compared to a little Fabia. When do you get yours back then?

It's a Merc, they don't come with them, much like BMW's etc! Some of them have the 'Psychic' indicator option but you need to have a special receiver fitted to take advantage of this great advance in technology :)

Hiway code chapter 4, subsection 7.1.6 rule 76

''Drivers of German prestige cars must substitute use of the indicators for use of a mobile phone.

After all they know exactly where they are going, why should they inform others, its usually more important that they take the call.''

I so very nearly ended up with comparable year CLK too.....but the "official" mpg is way, way short of real world.

Such a shame, as I love the ease of an auto!

Official combined is 37mpg.  I have seen the computer get up to 35 on a long downhill steady 65mph run for 30 miles or so.  Real world is about 21 to 23mpg....
